I tried to cycle in by the canal route on Friday morning, only to discover that a) they've pulled down the Cunning Man pub at Brughfield Bridge, and b) in the process blocked the tow path between Burghfield and Theale. Ended up cycling about 12 miles instead of 7, argh. Serves me right for trying to take the scenic route-- although I might try going back that way to see if there's a way through from the other side.
I have lost 12Kg in weight since the start of February-- still classed as "obese" but out of the "severely obese" class (i.e. my BMI has dropped below 40). So the exercise of moving house, combined with cycling a bit, combined with not going to lunch at Burger King and other such indulgences seems to be paying off. (The possibility exists, of course, that my scales have turned into a pathological liar while in transit). However, I am now going to Wetherspoons a disturbiong amount, esp. with one being just 10 minutes walk away from the house. I actually went along to their "curry club" night-- which I thought was quite handy, although couldn't shake the feeling of transforming into a cheapskate.
