Well, the car failed its MOT... chassis corrosion on the wheel arches, suspension bush split and ineffective handbrake. Bummer.

Finally managed to find somewhere not turning its nose up at a rusty 13-year-old, on an isolated little industrial area past a very low bridge under the railway in a fairly desolate area of Reading. Yummy. It'll still cost somewhere in the region of £500, though. Argh!

Still, if it was a reasonably new car, it would depreciate by more than that... at least that's one running cost I don't have to worry about...

I could get a new car, although it would be rather frustrating. The actual estimate was £375, I just suspect there might be some future "inflation" on that; although if the bushes are simple, then maybe not as much as I thought. And he agreed the handbrake might just be a slack cable :} And then it has to be re-tested... I'm not sure how much the car would actually sell for, so I can't really factor it into a cost plan. There are Senators on fish4 for £300-£600... Hmmm...
